New York City Establishes Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology Under Mayor Eric Adams
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has signed an executive order to create the Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain Technology, reinforcing his pro-crypto stance as his term concludes. The office, a first-of-its-kind in the nation, will operate within the mayor's office and report to the city's chief technology officer. Moises Rendon, a veteran of the NYC Office of Innovation and Technology, will lead the initiative.
"Our first-in-the-nation Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain will help make us the global capital of digital assets," Adams declared on X. The MOVE aims to position NYC at the forefront of blockchain innovation, economic growth, and talent attraction in the digital assets space.
The announcement comes as Adams prepares to leave office in January, following the end of his reelection campaign in late September. The establishment of this office marks a significant step in institutionalizing crypto and blockchain advocacy within municipal governance.
